about me.

Director of Play: Hazel McGregor

I am an architect, urban designer, artist and life-long amature crafter. I am also a mum of two and I make it a mission in our house to have fun with art or making as play, as much as possible.

We try and incorporate art, craft and design in our daily life and whether we are dismantling boxes, making dens (kid architecture), drawing birthday cards, or decorating the bathtub we make, do and draw, as a way of life.

Our house is often a mess. Making stuff is messy. The bigger and better the project, the more chaos it creates. It takes time to set up, take down, tidy up… and to plan and think through the activity to make sure that it is age appropriate and, most importantly fun, for the kids.

Like most, we are also working through the emotional challenges and turmoils of being a kid. Whether it is tanturums and emotional turmoil, the frustration when a project isnt TOTALLY perfect, sharing, safely using scissors (!) communication and resilience. These are all in the making.

I made Playmake to help other mums like me to make more. More fun together, more mess and more of their time with their kid. Come and join us for a session and lets get messy together!
